Lefke (Lefka)

Lefke also lies on the north west side of the island, 46 miles (74km) from Lefkosa. It is a small and friendly town, and its inhabitants will tell you that their citrus fruits are the tastiest and juiciest on the whole of the island. This is because of its rich soil, plentiful water and its reservoir. Its Turkish character reflects the domination of the area by the Ottoman Empire for more than 300 years.
